What institutions are the major influencers of our culture today? Christian sociologist George Barna’s research indicated that the leading influencers in American society today are movies, television, the Internet, books, music, public policy and law, and family. The Christian church, his research shows, is not among the top dozen influencers today. Why is the church no longer a major influence in our nation today? One reason is that she has fallen captive to the culture, something Paul warned the church about in Colossians 2:1-10.
