In a recent survey, Sociologist George Barna listed the top 6 reasons young people leave the church. Reason #1 was that the Churches seem overprotective. Young people saw that the church’s approach to the ideas of the culture was fear-based and risk-averse. Instead of engaging the ideas churches demonize everything outside of the church and avoid the ideas of the culture. Young people want to know if their faith in Christ can stand up to the challenge of opposing ideas. Is your church equipped for this task?
